Equations and Parenting.

You are probably thinking, Whaaat? What do those things have to do with each other? Keep reading and you’ll find out!

Famous physicist and mathematician, Sir Isaac Newton, observed a fundamental law in our universe. Newton’s third law states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. From atoms to the expanse of the universe, there is order and balance. Everything operates by equations. This is one of the many laws that governs the physical universe

But I want to talk about one major equation and what happened when it got off-balance.

It was one of the most important equations ever written. It was not an equation written on paper. It was not written on a chalkboard in a classroom. It was written in time and space. And the author was God.

Not so long ago, God created our universe and all that it contains in a mind-blowing 6 days. Despite the widely accepted lie of evolution, God did not take millions of years. It was precise, exact, and intentional. Not slow, drawn out, and ambiguous. God wanted a family, not primordial soup. And He accomplished exactly what He set out to do. (Skeptics see this Creation Evidence)

God wanted a family. And He wanted to live with that family. Forever.

So God created this beautiful world and created Adam and Eve, His first children, who would be the mother and father of the rest of His children. God created a perfect world and a family to live in that perfect world. He gave them everything they needed and more, and was present and dwelling in the world with them. (Genesis 1, Genesis 2)

So the equation looked something like this :

Mankind + God = One Perfect Family Living in Paradise

At the center of the garden there was a tree. A choice. God clearly warned His children that for every action there would be an equal or opposite reaction.

“Do not eat of this tree or you will surely die.” – Genesis 2:17

Then Satan tempted them to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil by essentially implying that God’s motives for telling them not to eat of it was because God didn’t want them to be happy.

But in reality, God told them not to eat of it to protect them, like any good parent would do. God already gave them everything they needed and they had it good! He knew that this was the best life for them. They were rich! Like the younger son in Jesus’ parable about the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32.

The reason God didn’t want them to eat of this tree was because He knew it would separate them.

However Satan in his jealousy wanted to destroy the family, and he still works to do the same today.

If you are a parent you may know all too well the pain caused when your child does something you don’t approve of. It is painful. I’m flat-out scared to parent teenagers one day. As I start to consider starting my own family, I already know my heart will break when they are old enough to make poor decisions, just like I did. Sadly, I’ve hurt my parents in ways I’m too ashamed to even think about. Now I understand why God allows us to be parents. To better understand Him.

You can do your best to show kids what is right and wrong but  chances are they are going to disobey and rebel. It breaks your heart because you know something they don’t, You know that these things you have forbidden will hurt them and it will cause you and them to drift apart. So it is with God.

The reality is, when we choose sin over God, like Adam and Eve did, we push God away. If you are a parent, think about how it feels when your children disobey and rebel. Now imagine how that feels for God our Father.

Simply put, when SIN entered the equation the result was devastating. Paradise was ruined.

If you’re a skeptic or have a hard time believing this is all true, let’s think about the evidence all around us. Look at the world around you and tell me these things are not a result of the story I have just laid out for you:

Death, disease, cancer, pain, heartache, pollution, extortion, poverty, homelessness, broken families, divorce, absent fathers, absent mothers, murder, genocide, war, weapons, shootings, destruction, chaos, anarchy, suicide, adultery, immorality, lying, stealing, cheating, infidelity, pornography, human trafficking, slavery, mental disorders, physical deformities, disabilities, rape, slander, greed, jealousy, anger, rage, abuse, starvation, famine, plague, darkness, confusion, depression, anxiety, and the list goes on.

That is the world we live in today.

No wonder people are confused and ask: Why does God allow suffering? Why does God allow evil? Well, He didn’t cause it. We did. We chose to disobey Him. We pushed God away.

Deep down in our heart, we know that the world should not be this way. God never intended it to be this way. We all know the world is broken and is not getting better.

Why else would we strive for social justice, fight for the environment, start groups to protect animals, have movements to end things like human trafficking? We were created for a perfect world and we know that this is not it.

The reason we look forward to the promise of a perfect afterlife is because we have hopes that there is something better. And I’m here to tell you there is something after this. Two options. You will either choose God’s family or Satan’s. We choose Heaven or we choose Hell.

It’s simple, God made the equation and we set it off-balance. So He provided Jesus Christ to balance it again.

Mankind + Faith in Jesus  = Eternity With God (Family Reunited, Paradise Restored)

Heaven is for those who admit that they push God away with their own sin and accept God’s gift, Jesus, to make things right with God. Heaven is for God’s children. It’s not just for “good people.” If any of us were good then God wouldn’t have sent Jesus to die for us. It for those who repent and turn to Jesus. Heaven is where we will be a family again with God as it was in the Beginning. Hallelujah!

Hell is not just for those who are “bad people,” who do heinous things like murder and rape. That is a very elementary way of constituting who goes to hell. Hell is for anyone and everyone who rejects Jesus as God’s son. It is for those who do not repent of their sin while they are on this earth, are not sorry they pushed the Father away, and do not accept Jesus as the only way back to the Father. Satan is here to kill and destroy because he is jealous of God’s children, yet Jesus came to give us life to the full. (John 10:10)  Hell will be an awful place. Please choose Heaven. Choose Jesus.

So how do you make it right? How do you “balance your equation?”

The only way to get right with God is through Jesus Christ. Admitting you are a sinner and trusting that He is the only one who can restore you to God the Father.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” – Hebrews 11:6

God gave us the Bible to reveal who He is exactly. It is not flawed and merely human. It is inspired. God is powerful enough to allow men to write and preserve His Word and keep it from error over thousands of years, so don’t let another lie from Satan keep you from reading the Bible. (King James Version is best.)

  • God is as He reveals Himself in the Holy Bible.
  • Jesus is the one God sent to restore us to the Father.
  • You cannot know God without Jesus Christ.
  • Read the Gospels to discover who Jesus really was.

So be humble and get on your knees to talk to Jesus. You are not guaranteed tomorrow. We are all going to pass away.

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17

This world won’t last forever. Heaven will be the place where all will be made right and perfect–God’s family reunited. God will be the Father. Jesus will be the firstborn among us. And all will be as it should be. You will live forever if you do God’s will– His will is for you to accept His son, Jesus.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”             – John 14:6

What will your equation look like? Will you allow Jesus to balance it, or will you die without making that equation right? Please accept Jesus in to your heart today and secure your spot in Heaven with the Almighty and Loving Creator, God.

If you would like someone to pray with you or someone to speak to, about accepting Jesus Christ, please leave a comment or send us a message through the contact tab on this website.

God Bless you!
