They say that patience is a virtue,
One we all must strive to obtain.
But patiently enduring strife and troubles,
Is often so difficult to sustain.
Paul said to glory in our tribulations,
Knowing this will allow us to persevere.
That this will bring experience, character and hope,
So we should endure and do not fear. (Romans 5:3-4)
James taught to count temptations joy,
That patience comes as our faith is tested,
That we should allow patience to have her perfect work,
To become whole, complete and totally perfected. (James 1:2-4)
How often God’s children must heed these words,
Because all too easily we can forget and do ignore.
That in Christ we can do all things,
And in our weakness His strength will endure.
(Philippians 4:13, 2 Corinthians 12:9)
For love is patient, love is kind,
It does not boast and it is not proud.
Love for our God is what strengthens us,
And keeps us shouting praises loud! (1 Corinthians 13:4)
We must rejoice in hope despite our troubles,
Do good and bear one another in love.
We must wait with patience for what we do not see,
Fervently praying to our perfect God above.
(Romans 8:25, 12:12, Galatians 6:9, Ephesians 4:2)
It’s as if we are the bow and arrow,
In God, the archer’s, perfect hands.
He pulls, stretches and aims us towards,
His unseen target and purposeful plans.
Though we might feel stretched beyond our limit,
And that we cannot go one even one more day.
We must trust in God’s plan and perfect timing,
For Christ is the life, the truth and the way. (John 14:6)
What purpose is God cultivating in your life right now? Why is it so hard to have patience?
