It’s amazing how God can reveal powerful things to us in such random and unusual ways. Today while working out I found myself listening to a new playlist I created with some hard Christian rock music; feed my spirit while getting fired up to pump that iron right?!? So the band I was listening to was the band Blindside and a song came on from their first self-titled album and wow did a flood of memories come back to me.

This was an album that came out my freshman year in high school and I was turned onto probably my junior or senior year. At that time I was extremely unhappy, unpopular and just and all around angst-ridden teen that thought the world revolved around me and I was angry that nothing was the way I wanted or the way I thought it should be. I was about as far from God as ever, or so I thought…..

Today as I listened to the songs and now heard the band talk about the “Father” and the “Holy Spirit” and other general lyrics very clearly sharing the bands Christian faith in a intense way and it hit me like a ton of bricks…..in what I thought was some of my darkest moments…..God was right there with me.

Deuteronomy 31:8 basically slapped me right in the face while was working on my lats….”God will go with you, He will never leave your or forsake you.” WOW. Mind….Blown….

I was about as anti religious as it comes in high school, I certainly wasn’t a professing Christian, and I had definitely never read a Bible or EVER sought a personal relationship with the Lord, yet He was right there with me.  Speaking to me in His clever ways, through music I would have never known could have had positive or spiritual messaging in it. Yet today was another moment where it was made crystal clear that God has been trying to get His prodigal son to return to Him all that time and guess what He is doing the same thing with YOU right now!

You see before I gave my life to Christ and I surrendered my life to God I was full of worry, full of anger, full of anxiety and after spending years trying to pursue all my dreams in my own strength and failing miserably I had almost lost all hope as well. If I had only known the wisdom in Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Things could have been so different, so many years could have been spent moving forward instead of standing still or moving backward….yet lucky for me as it says in Matthew 28:20 “….behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Phew! Thank the Lord for that!

Where are you at in your life? Full of anxiety, stress, fear and doubt? Are you lost? Have you given up on hope? Only one thing is needed….SURRENDER. Surrender to the Lord, ask Jesus to come into your heart and become your Lord and Savior and repent for your sins and ask for forgiveness. Pick up a Bible and go to Church and let your life start to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Proverbs 3:6 says “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” See, you don’t have to do things in your own strength, you just need to get out of your own head, crucify your ego and surrender to the One True God.  Acknowledge Him, seek Him and He will show you a way.

Realize this:

Is it really that simple? YES. Is it EASY? Ha! Not quite! Just like we have to put time in at the gym to grow our muscles, we have to put time into seeking God by praying, and reading His word to grow our Faith. Is it easy?? Absolutely not! It is worth it? It is absolutely the most worthwhile thing you could ever do!

Joshua 1:9 gives us this simple and powerful instruction: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Life is hard and full of challenges, but as long as we acknowledge that everything we have and everything we are is only because God has granted us those gifts and credit belongs where credit is due….We will find the power to CHANGE EVERYTHING! God just wants a relationship with us first! Then He seeks to give us the desires of our heart!

In closing I hope you can find strength in this verse as I and many others have while you are out ‘fighting the good fight.’

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31

If you find yourself in a dark place and in dark times….just look to the light and everything will start to change. Remember we can’t climb out of an empty box alone…..Below is the song that gave me the inspiration for the post and the title which was taken directly from the lyrics. If you are in need of prayer or just someone to talk to post a comment or reach out to me through the link in my name. You are LOVED.

May God Bless you Always,

From your mouth to my ears. You said it best when you stated “I was full of worry, full of anger, full of anxiety and after spending years trying to pursue all my dreams in my own strength and failing miserably I had almost lost all hope as well.” This has been my plight. Even though, as a follower of Jesus, I know I am supposed to just trust, it’s SO easy to let the opposing voices in. And yet, when you let it all go and just give in, THAT’S when you see change begin. It’s never from your own doing, it’s always from His grace. Personally, I get so wrapped up in accomplishing my goals, a slight failure sends me reeling and I forget to just TRUST. But it really is that simple. Thanks for sharing:)
